“Elephant” zircon from Malawi. The crystal is huge! Best fluorescence under shortwave UV light. The fluorescence spectrum shows a broad peak centered at 580nm due to radiation induced centers.

Fluorescence spectrum under 275nm UVC LED. The broad peak at about 580nm is due to radiation centers. The more radiation damage there is, the more the peak shifts towards the red.
