SC330 - Tugtupite & Sørensenite
Locality: Kvanefjeld (Kuannersuit Plateau), Ilímaussaq complex, Narsaq, Kujalleq, Greenland (MINDAT)
Size: 5 x 3 x 3 cm - Miniature (3-6 cm)
Weight: 61 g
minID: WRT-6LY
The rare mineral sorensenite associated with tugtupite. Best is under shortwave UV light: the sorensenite fluoresces a nice white, while the tugtupite fluoresces bright red. Under longwave UV light there is a lot of orange fluorescence from the tugtupite (and possibly sodalite in the matrix?). The tugtupite is also slightly tenebrescent: it saturates to a slight pink color under exposure to UV light (will bleach to white under artificial white light).
