SC1317 – Natisite and Vitusite-(Ce) from Khibiny, Russia

Feb 1, 2026 | Mineral Collection, Natisite, Vitusite-(Ce)

A “rischorrite” rock with some interesting fluorescent minerals. In what I call the front, there is a nice galaxy of natisite dots, fluorescent bright blue under shortwave UV light. On the back side, some natisite is still visible at the bottom, but what is most visible is a vein of an unidentified green fluorescent mineral, some dots of orange fluorescent sodalite (under longwave UV), and a few little crystal of vitusite-Ce, fluorescent violet under shortwave and midwave UV. The red and yellow colors are artifact of the photograph; mostly sodalite fluorescence overlapping the green or the violet.
